Countdown is on!

Only a few more weeks to go! Spencer and I are doing last minute chores and errands to get ready for Sam's arrival. His room is almost complete, and we are going to install the car seat this weekend.

It's so nice to look around Sam's room and realize what amazing friends and family we have. His closet is stocked with beautiful clothes, toys and necessities handed down from his cousin (our nephew) Randall Calloway and friends including George and Vann Cargile, Dominic Zarate and James and Henry Bragg.

Some people may want brand new furniture, but we are happy to use furniture that has been passed down from those we love. Sam's bed came from Mary and Juan. Both of their children slept in it for several years. His changing table and high chair are from Georgi. The glider is on loan from Mallory and Craig. His bouncy chair was passed down from his cousin Randall. His bookshelf was used by both my mom and me when we were little. Finally, Sam will be using Spencer's dresser from when he was a little boy (and I just found out it was used by his mother as well!). While all of these special items came from different families and were used in different decades, everything came together nicely. I will post pictures of his room soon!

May 7 is our lucky day!

Spencer and I found out I was pregnant on Saturday, May 7, 2011. May 7 is a pretty important day in our household. He proposed to me on 5/7/07, we closed on our first house on 5/7/08, and I defended my dissertation on 5/7/10. But I don't think anything will ever top 5/7/11.
