This is a direct quote from Spencer, but I know exactly what he is referring to. Sam is getting expressive and is starting to show his personality. Pasted below are some of our favorite recent expressions.
Nana took this picture. I love it. I have not been able to capture that expression, so I am glad she shared it.
I love this picture! He makes this expression all of the time. He often frowns when he is studying something...sometimes it's a bottle...sometimes it's a dog...sometimes it's his mobile. I also love his sweet mouth here.
Spencer is always taking pictures of Sam during his morning feedings. Sometimes Sam's face looks a little distorted because the camera is too close, but these pictures are special. Spencer must really talk to him because he gets him to smile and laugh a lot.
This is another picture from one of his morning feedings. I recognize that look. He makes that expression when he spots a bottle. He gets excited and starts cooing and grunting. It's cute.
Spencer took this tonight. Sam was making a lot of noise because he was ready to eat (AGAIN!). Spencer was able to get his attention and distract him. Sam stopped crying, and Spencer snapped this picture.

Happy Leap Year!
Sam is eating like a pig and sleeping like an angel. I have refrained from blogging about his amazing sleeping habits for fear that it will end. He has been sleeping for at least 7 hours for over 10 days now. Last night he went to sleep at 9:30, and Spencer had to wake him at 7AM. I couldn't believe it! I brace myself each morning when I first look at the clock when I hear him stirring. I am not sure if it's 2AM or 7AM. So far he is waking between 6 and 7AM. He is not much of a napper during the day, but I will take it! I can do anything with a full night's sleep.
Last weekend was another full weekend for us. Sam went to his first Mass, which was special, but he also visited St. Paul's Cathedral downtown for the Rite of Election with the Bishop. I am completing the final RCIA classes over the next several weeks, and it will be extra special to have Sam attend them with us.
Pasted below are some of my favorite pictures of late. I am working on a slideshow of our favorites over his first 2 months of life. Stay tuned!!
We dressed him in 'big boy clothes' this weekend. Here he is before our neighborhood cookout on Saturday night. He was the hit of the party! I especially love his kicks.
The fashion trend continued Sunday night when we went to Mary and Juan's. I usually don't like to dress babies like adults, but I do make exceptions. I love this track suit, but Sam was not too happy. It was the end of the night, and he was tired and hungry.
He settled down once I put him in his chair. I was able to snap a quick picture.

Sam Has Breakfast with Pops
Spencer here. Sam has just been woken up for breakfast. Like me, Sam is unhappy when hungry.
Sam thinks he sees something (and does his best Bill Cosby).
Breakfast!

Sam and I meet Dax
Yesterday Sam and I met our cousin Dax for the first time. We were able to capture some great pictures. It will be so fun to watch the boys grow up together.
The boys loved laying beside each other.
I got to hold sweet Dax for the first time.
This is the first time Sam smiled for the camera. I was not in the room, but thankfully Bob had his camera. He was loving his great aunt!
Sam was all smiles, all day.

Get ready for your close-up
I love this picture of Sam that Susu took today. He is changing so much. He really looks different than he did just a week ago. It will be amazing to see how he changes and grows from week to week and month to month. This blog will hopefully serve as a digital baby book that he will want to read one day.
We had another great weekend. We spent the night with my mom last night. Tee and Anne loved spending time with Sam. He was also able to meet Carrie for the first time. Unfortunately I did not get a picture. Maybe next time. Susu and Buddy came for a visit today. I think Poppie and Nana are coming over tomorrow night. Sam is definitely loved!
We are so looking forward to visiting our new cousin Dax this week. I will post pictures of that visit for sure.

Tres Chic!
Sam was styling today in his Parisian onesie. It was a gift from my Francophile friend Eleanor. I cannot wait until she is back in the USA so that Sam can meet her. If only he were born 7 days earlier. She flew back to France on January 2.

Hallelujah!
I don't want to blog too soon, but I think Sam may be a good sleeper. Anyone who knows me will attest to my love of sleep. Spencer, on the other hand, can take it or leave it. I think Sam may have inherited my propensity to catch some major Z's. He is already sleeping 4 1/2 to 5 hours each night. After a quick bottle, he falls right back to sleep for 2 to 3 more hours. I am hoping this trend continues.
I do not know if it's possible or not, but I also think he is able to dream. I am watching him sleep right now in his bouncy chair, and every once in a while he will smile or coo or cry a little. It's so sweet. Just a minute ago the noise on the TV startled him, and he threw his arms in the arm and jumped. His eyes were wide open. He quickly fell back asleep like a good boy.
By the way, today is a great day for our family. I just got word that my cousin had her baby boy. Dax Patrick Keedy was born about five minutes ago. Sam will for sure have a life-long buddy in his new cousin.

What a great weekend! Lucy agrees!
This weekend has been wonderful! My sweet husband took the late night and early morning feedings so that I could get 2 nights of full sleep. Although he is dragging today, I feel fantastic.
Friday Sam was able to spend time with his great-aunt, great-uncle and cousins (pictures to follow). Yesterday I met my mom at the spa, and we both got a massage and facial to celebrate my birthday a little late. (Thank you Mom!) Today Spencer, Sam and I traveled to Buddy and Susu's so that Sam could meet his sweet cousins. We had a delicious lunch and were able to capture some really great pictures.
I feel so rested. Now it's my turn to give sweet Sam his late feeding. I know one day I will miss that special time with him, but I have to admit that they are rough right now. I am counting down the days until next weekend when Spencer will takeover. I love catching some zzzzzzzzz's.

First trip to Daddy's office
We had fun today in Centreville with the Cargiles. Sam had his first of many lunches at Juanez...the best Mexican restaurant around! He looks like a little British baby in this hat.
1 Month Old Today!
It's hard to believe that Sam is one month old today! He had a weight check on Tuesday, and we are happy to report that he gained 18 ounces! He weighs a whopping 9 pounds. The doctor wanted him to gain 14 ounces, so he went above and beyond. He's been chowing down on this new formula. We did find out that he had a milk allergy (which he will very likely outgrow), so we switched him to a soy-based formula. He seems much happier!
We are headed to Centreville to have lunch with Spencer, Mal and Craig today. I think it will be good for us to get out of the house. I am having a little 'cabin fever.' I go to the doctor next Tuesday, and I hope to be cleared for exercise. I am ready to break a sweat!

GG makes a visit
GG was there when Sam was born, but she made a trip for the weekend. She and Sam have been spending a lot of quality time together. Thankfully GG is not afraid of a little spit up, as Sam is still adjusting to his formula. We have all had fun together.

Sam's first visitors
I tried my best to get a picture of Sam and all of his visitors. Unfortunately things were a little hectic, and I did not get a picture of everyone. I have several videos from the hospital that I will try to post soon. I am taking advantage of my time at home to learn more about how to operate this blog.
I did want to note the people that were at the hospital when Sam was born. We were so thankful to have my mom, Dottie, Carolyn, my dad, Sue, Jane, Russell, Juan, Mallory, and Craig anxiously waiting Sam's arrival in our hospital room. We will never forget that day. Spencer and I left the room at 12:25 and came back around 1:15 with a new baby boy. Our life will never be the same!
